Yellow stripes and headaches.

This was my first attempt. I first thought that sewing and the ironing would be the best. But it created too much bulk and waving on the stripes.

Later after lots if trial and error I went with using fusible tape and ironing to the size of my stripes. It let me create sharp points on the back and shoulder. It also didn't add too much bulk around where the zipper would be.

Starting to sew

Here was where the rubber first met the road. My measurements and adjustments to the original pattern were ready to meet.
Also my fabric had come in. I chose a wet spandex for both the blue and red and a golden yellow for the stripes.

After my cutting I sewed up the back seam.

Then it was time for red and sewing up the legs. This was the back
I also had a chance to double check my raglan sleeve design.

Amazing that I got the legs to fit!
Next time: yellow stripes and how they can give you a stroke.

Design thoughts

When I decided in January to make a Captain Marvel costume I first went to the best resource, the internet. There are already some great cosplays out there and lots of help. I also decided to base my costume on this picture.

I measured the proportions of red to yellow on the top and worked out how  much each color gets. Also I took some internet advice and choose the pattern Kwik Sew 3052. It's a super easy pattern and I will only have to make a few adjustments which I will get to later. Here was the start.

Doing something different

Sorry about my non- posting self. I have been spending time losing weight so that I can make this costume. It's Marvel's current Captain Marvel. I have decided that I should log this somewhere if anything just so I can remember it after the fact. So starting in the next post I will do a play by play if what I have done so far and maybe it will help someone down the road.

Mission control we have robot.

My son has made a battle bot and entertained the dogs with it tonight. It doesn't look like much, but it seems to like zipping around the carpet. Adventures with a twelve year old.
