One Singular Sensation

I went to A Chorus Line this weekend for my mother's day gift and I must say that it was Fansastic! Of course it was everything it is supposed to be and more. At the end of the show they stopped us mid applause and told us how they also were affected by the floods in Nashville and how they were going to take donations for one of our local charities to help us rebuild. It got me and my friends a bit choked up because we are all trying to do our part, and it was just a week ago. We are still rationing our water since one of the processing facilities is still not working, and most of us are trying to use our free time to volunteer or help friends and family with their losses. It was just really touching to see a traveling cast wanting to help our city. They didn't have to offer this help but they did and it is truely is a singular sensation.

Crazy wet weekend

I finally got to visit lovely little Solo, the sole survivor from Star's litter. He is a wonderful dog and loves everything. As long as it is okay with everyone I will hopefully be bringing him home in a few weeks. The only bad thing was that I chose to visit on the day the sky opened up in Nashville. As I was leaving Laura's house I checked my phone to see that everyone had been trying to get me. It was a "toad strangler" at home and the main highway was a river. Luckily my sister lives before the mess and I ended up staying with her for the night.
Mugen and Cameron loved getting to visit and Mugen made sure to scare the snot out of their cat the whole time. I drove home on Sunday morning to make it before the second wave of storms and Mugen passed out the whole day after our adventure. It gave us enough time to clean up get some groceries and welcome some friends who were evacuated from the Opryland Hotel. They were in town for a convention and luckily called us so we could get them to our house and away from the craziness of the evacuation. If they had gone with the rest of the Hotel their car would have been underwater and they would have really been stranded.
Luckily they are now home in Memphis and everyone is safe. Still, shouldn't the weather know better than to rain on my puppy fun?

Mugen likes to play ball

I have found a kid's play tunnel this week at Target, it's only 5 feet, but it works. In fact Mugen has added it to his play ball routine. Here is my video enjoy:

Getting a spring routine

Now that we are getting our backyard into shape I have started a routine that Mugen approves of. When I get home every evening we play a good 10-15 minutes of ball. Of course I need two balls or he won't drop the first one. I will see if I can get video of it this week so everyone can see his crazy happy smile. He just loves ball.

All of those dog classes finally paid off

I like to take Mugen to dog class. We have fiinished several and I was thinking of taking a break until yesterday. I have a newly fenced in back yard that Mr Mugen loves to run in. It also has a nice gate in the back into the common area behind our house in our neighborhood. My son was out in the common area collecting bugs (like all boys do on spring days), and as he was entering in the gate Mugen decided that he wanted to romp out in the common area. I was in the kitchen with the windows open making dinner and I heard my son screaming " MUGEN MUGEN!". I immediately grabbed the cheese on my refridgerator door and opened the back door and said in my happiest voice "TREATY TREAT". I looked out and realized that Mugen was over 2 doors down in the common area and I watched him hit the brakes as soon as he heard me. I walked to the gate and said again "Treat come hurry hurry hurry!" He saw the cheese in my hand and immediately ran back into the yard and sat to receive his cheese. I closed the gate and saw my son falling onto the ground very upset crying. Of course I had no shoes on and I told him that everyone was fine. Cameron came back and got a giant hug from me. He was really scared he was going to lose Mugen. I told him that was why we took dog classes and that I would teach him how to recall Mugen so he could do it as well.
In case anyone who doesn't know why this is so important to us, it is because we have had 2 dogs get hit by cars before. Both were due to the fact that we had never learned how to recall our dogs properly and that they just never listened. One of my dog's was killed instantly and the other ended up in a dog cart from a severed spine. I am just very grateful to my classes at Pup Scouts in Nashville that helped us learn this and has made it a normal part of training in our house. I think that we will get in more classes soon.
